High Signal, Low Noise

Why Your Own Voice Is the Best Guide

Hello legend,

Something I've been reflecting on recently is the idea of high signal, low noise.

Meaning:

It's not that you need more perspectives or more advice or more knowledge. It's that you need to get still and listen to your own voice.

High signal, low noise.

I know that when I'm in a situation where I feel a bit stuck, or between two forks in the road, or like I need advice… the instinct is to want to go and seek it from other people. Friends, mentors, experts.

But the truth is, when I look at the times in my life where I've been the most effective and where I've made the best decisions, it's actually been the times where I've tuned everyone out, reduced the outside noise, sat with myself, and just followed my own signal… my own intuition.

Signal is your own knowing. Sometimes it comes from your conscious mind, often from your subconscious mind, and at times it feels like you’re getting the download from the superconscious mind.

Noise is everything else. And noise is easy. It's easy to ask 10 people for advice on what you should do. It's easy to listen to 10 different YouTube experts tell you what to do.

It's a little more nuanced to sit with yourself and tune into the signal – your own knowing.

And so often, your own signal is far more valuable than the outside noise. Its just right. It's right for you, for your history, your personality. No one else's perspective can really compare with the knowledge and intuition that your subconscious holds and the signal/clues/intuitive nudges that it's sending you every minute of every day.

So if you're at a point in your life where you're seeking more clarity on something – more clarity about a decision, more clarity about a business, more clarity about a life direction – my recommendation is to create space, reduce input, and just listen to the signal.

Notice what comes through.

You'll know if you need to ask an external source or mentor for advice. That'll actually be part of the signal.

If you sit with yourself and meditate for 20 minutes, and you just tune into your intuition, you might receive the download of “go talk to this specific person”.

Other times, you may receive the exact clarity you're looking for just from your own mind. Simply from creating space and reducing the noise.

My challenge to you today:

Set a timer for 20 minutes. Close your eyes, lie down or sit in a comfortable position, and tune into your mind. Your signal. See what comes up.

You can also do this as you go to sleep tonight:

Ask your subconscious mind to work on a problem overnight.

Before you fall asleep, as you're getting comfy in bed, say to your subconscious mind: “Subconscious mind, I want you to work on this specific challenge. This is the challenge, this is the decision I'm facing. You're gonna work on this all night. You're gonna use your divine intelligence. And I'm gonna wake up with the perfect divine plan, the perfect divine clarity about this situation.”

Even if you're skeptical about it, just say it anyway and do it anyway.

And then notice what happens in the middle of the night at 3 a.m. or in the morning.

You might be surprised.
